Learning Scientist is a newly launched resource kit for teachers and educators across all levels, with a mission to unpack the science of learning, one concept at a time.
By unpacking the science of learning, Learning Scientist provides instructors with the practical tools to deliver better learning outcomes in pedagogically informed ways.
Concept cards are broken down into four main categories:
Learning Theory - theories of learning, from behaviourism to connectivism, which have shaped instruction and teaching today
Pedagogy - key proponents in the science of learning and their educational philosophies for the delivery of learning
Activities - techniques, methods, and tools for facilitating different kinds of learning
Learning Technology - impacts and innovations of technology on educational methods and modes of learning
Each concept card will explore a combination of:
Who? (who is the learning scientist?)
What? (what is the concept or theory?)
When? (when was the concept introduced or when is it best applied?)
How? (how is it delivered in an instructional setting?)
Why? (what are its learning benefits?)
Why Not? (what are its common implementation challenges?)
Theory Score (what learning theory is most relevant to the activity?)
We’re committed to developing and building a wide ranging catalogue of resources, bridging learning theory and practice to inform decision-making to deliver any learning outcome. So far, we’ve only just begun. Together, we’ll bring the science back into learning.
