What?

Reader’s theatre is a learning activity where students perform a script based on a story or text, taking on different roles and reading aloud, fostering reading fluency, comprehension, and engagement.

How?

Step 1. Select a script. Choose a script or adapt a story that aligns with the curriculum. Highlight dialogue and assign roles to engage students in the reading process.

Step 2. Practice and rehearse. Allow students time to practice reading their parts with expression, fluency, and appropriate intonation. Encourage collaboration and provide feedback during rehearsals.

Step 3. Performance and reflection. Have students perform the script for an audience, such as their classmates or another class. Afterward, facilitate a reflection session where students discuss their experience and insights gained from the activity.
